What to Do in a Dental Emergency

  1. Call Us for a same-day appointment. Knocked-out teeth should be treated within two hours.
  2. If There’s Bleeding, apply gauze or cotton to stop it within an hour.
  3. For Swelling, use an ice pack on the outside of the cheek.
  4. To Reduce Pain, administer child-safe pain medication (e.g., Tylenol or Motrin).

How to Help Prevent Dental Emergencies

  • Wear a Mouthguard for sports or other physical activities.
  • Avoid Hard Foods like ice and hard candies that can fracture teeth.
  • Practice Good Oral Hygiene to prevent decay that can lead to emergencies.
  • Teach Safe Habits – remind kids never to use their teeth to open objects.

Understanding the Cost of Emergency Dental Care

  • What is a dental emergency?
An emergency typically involves severe pain, bleeding, or a situation needing immediate care to save a tooth.
  • Urgent vs. Non-Urgent Emergencies
Some issues, like mild toothaches or lost fillings, can wait a day but should be treated soon. More severe cases, like knocked-out teeth, require immediate care.
